Ear training continued/walking bass line

A friend visited this weekend. She plays the piano by ear, but also reads music slowly. She has learned some interesting techniques and thus inspired me to play around some.
I finally figured out ‘Walking the Bass Line”! To have it sound right, the notes to use are the chords you’d use when harmonizing Blues. In other words, use 7th chords with the 7th flatted…which makes it the Dominant 7th. And leave out the 3rd. So the I chord in key of C that works is c, g, b flat. the IV chord is f, c, e flat, and V chord is interesting because actually for the 7th sounds good either as f or f flat/e.
Well, this opens up other bluesy sounds for the bass and it’s helping my ear training and my rythm training.
I know I’m not the only amateur on the list, so wanted to share this with others.
