Digital Piano With Fully Weighted Wooden Keys
- Image via Wikipedia
If you bought a digital piano with fully weighted wooden keys (so action is as heavy as a real piano) then yes, it should be slightly below your elbows so you can attack the keys from above.
BUT… if you got a keyboard with lightweight plastic keys (those called semi weighted or nothing at all) they are easier to play if you place them a little higher, so you “drag your hands” a little. Otherwise the spring action is a little to soft to hit your fingers from up above and it might feel awkward. I know your piano teacher scolds you if you do that on an acoustic piano, but then again, what do they know about electronics?
