What piano or keyboard should I purchase?

I’m about to start piano lessons, and need something for home to practice on. The only problem is that pianos aren’t exactly on the cheap side. So I was wondering if it’s important to just go ahead and try and buy one, or if I can learn on a keyboard for awhile. Also, it would be great if you could recommend good pianos and keyboards since I’ll need help finding one to buy. And is there are a big difference between a digital piano and a traditional one?

Thanks!
Would a keyboard with weighted keys be okay, like the Yamaha YPG-625?

I would not want to get a keyboard, they are not the same thing as piano. Digital piano can be a choice, but you need to know the touch and the weight of the keys are different from a real piano, some even got the sound very different from a real one as well. But if you can afford a digital piano, you should be able to get a 2nd hand upright piano, which I think most of the time is better. I heard people buying 2nd piano from ebay, maybe you can give it a try. Good luck!

if you can afford any kind of piano, get that. keyboards aren’t the same to play on. you’ll know what i mean once you start playing

For my piano sound I’m using a yamaha A4000 sampler through an old korg M1, you would’nt beleive the tone I’m getting, I have some recordings I’ve made with it on my website!
